We will provide an overview of 120 years of the technological and aesthetic evolution of Cinema. We will describe silent cinema. We will explain how the coming of sound transformed storytelling and how the development of colour altered visual imagery.
Simultaneously, we will look at how the language of cinema developed its distinct grammar and self-expression.
We will also examine the history of Film & Television. At the same time, we will include an analysis of fiction and non-fiction film & TV programming.
In the final analysis, we will learn to decode the elements of screen language beyond the direct audio-visual narrative. We will see how content over the years impacts the socio-political mindset of the audience, and how our choices change content creation.
